Teal & Yellow Wings

Hey everyone,

This is a quick simple, but edgy look I did for a hot summer day at the fair.  I needed something that was fast, wouldn't budge or smudge all day, lightweight, but still fun and eye-catching.

I kept my face makeup fairly natural with just a dab of CC cream and a cream blush to keep my skin looking fresh and hydrated out in the dry heat that California brings.  I didn't want a lot of eyeshadow or false lashes that would smudge and smear around during the day so I opted for some colorful liner and just a good coat of mascara.  The yellow was a little out of my comfort zone but hey, it's summer and why not go for it?

For the liner, I used Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Teal along the top, winged out, & their Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Canary along the bottom and following the outer wing.  The liners held up really well through the day and weren't smearing around my eyes or losing vibrancy in color. I also got a few compliments from a few random strangers, which is always nice. :)

Playing is fun, don't be afraid to do it!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit- Photos & Swatches

Happy Tuesday everybody!

It certainly was for me.  I just got my ABH Contour Kits in the mail, only 28 (28!!!) hours after purchasing. I am SO impressed with how fast they were sent out to me; a whopping 2 days earlier than my scheduled arrival time.  And the fact that everything was correct, in order, packaged well, and just went smoothly in general was a major plus.

So the two kits I purchased were part of the "Build Your Own Palette" out of the kit refills that launched on Monday, July 28th.  I mixed and matched colors and got enough shades for personal use, and then some extras for my kit for when I freelance.

But without any further ado, here are the photos:

And now for the swatches.

The palettes arrived empty and all shades were packaged individually like this, which made it really easy to see the shades & their names.  All names were also printed on the backsides of all pots:

Overall:

I am so excited to get started with these shades! A few of the highlights are too dark for my fair skin, but I plan to use them as eyeshadows, for layering, or with other clients.  The deep tones are beautiful and smooth, not at all chalky, and none of them run too orange or yellow.  My favorites so far are Vanilla, Champagne, Fawn, Clay, Macchiato, and Terracotta.  Just beautiful shades!

The refill shades can be purchased on Anastasia Beverly Hills website (links below) individually for $14 each, or 6 for $40 with a free empty palette.  I purchased two full kits and paid for two-day shipping, which came to $96.08 after tax.  It's definitely worth it to build a palette and get the 6 for 40 deal, considering 3 individuals cost more than a whole new palette.

I'll be doing an in depth review with all of the shades as soon as I get time to play with them all and get a feel for them.  Until then, I highly recommend these. Check it out!
